Good Things to Know
There are a few questions that usually come up when Tommy and/or John thomas come for a visit. Here we will try to answer those questions, and we want to thank you for taking the time to read this page.
1. What do you guys charge?
We do not have a set fee. All we ask is that you take care of our travel expenses (i.e. plane fares or rental car fees, food and lodging) and receive a love offering at each that we will be a part of. Some places we visit are reluctant to take up love offerings at every service, but we kindly request that you allow people the opportunity to give at some point in every service, including Sunday morning. Sometimes, people will come to one service and won’t be able to attend any others, and if they happen to come when an offering is not being taken, they miss the opportunity to give—and we miss the opportunity to receive!
Please remember that expenses should come out of your operating budget, and not the offerings. We normally request the expense check in advance because we like to maintain a zero balance on our credit card! Unfortunately, when expenses are taken out of the love offerings, it leaves us with very little to live on. Since we do not have a regular salary during the week, it is necessary for us to take a check with us at the end of the weekend rather than having it mailed to us. Friends like you are our only source of income, and we appreciate every financial effort you make on our behalf. Thanks for understanding this!
If you feel our financial policy is unreasonable, please let us know and we will be happy to explain our position. Since we operate without any kind of signed agreement or contract, we have provided these guidelines here in what we hope is a non-threatening, non-demanding format.
2. Where do you like to stay?
We will gladly stay wherever it is convenient.
3. What instrument does that boy of yours play?
John thomas plays the piano. He absolutely LOVES to play a piano that has been tuned recently, and has actual working keys. If a piano is not available, he will bring his keyboard when possible. If you don't have a keyboard available, please let us know, and we will make other arrangements.
4. Do you need a sound system?
Yes. We do not travel with our own sound system. We will need to use your house system, and if you could arrange for someone to meet us early to get everything hooked up and sound checked, that would be great.
5. Can we do an event with you in a gymnasium or outdoors?
We work better in a small venue, so outdoor events and gymnasiums are not conducive to our presentations.
6. Do you project song lyrics or videos?
Yes. If you have a computer/projector setup available, we can also have the option to project lyrics for a worship time if we need to.
7. Do you have CDs, books and other product to sell?
Yes! If a table could be available in the lobby of the building where we can make our product available, we'd greatly appreciate it.
8. Does Tommy record his sermons?
Yes, he does. It's all a part of the Tommy Oaks International Big Time Audio Ministry (TOIBTTAM). Therefore, if your church records the services on a regular basis, it would be very nice if no recording would take place while Tommy is speaking. He always makes the messages available for download or on CD. Thanks for understanding!
